Henry La Cossitt, a multifaceted individual with a diverse range of professions, was born on September 24, 1899, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, to Henry and Nellie Truesdell De La Cossitt. His father, a medical practitioner, had a long-standing practice in Homestead.
Prior to embarking on his literary career, La Cossitt gained valuable experience as a deck hand on the SS Carengo, a ship that traveled between New York and Valencia, Spain.
Henry De La Cossitt Jr. left an indelible mark on the world through his work as a newspaper correspondent, magazine writer, and radiocommentator, and even served as the editor of Colliers Magazine at one point.
In his personal life, La Cossitt was married to Lois Ann Hackett, and they had at least one daughter together. His life was tragically cut short when he succumbed to cancer on December 2, 1962, in Washington D.C.
