Henry Jacobson, a multi-talented individual, began his career as a documentary photographer and cinematographer before transitioning into directing, producing, and writing. In 2013, he formed a partnership with fellow filmmaker Emma Tammi, director of the Blumhouse hit Five Nights at Freddy's, to establish Mind Hive Films. This collaboration brought together their combined experience in scripted and unscripted projects for film and television.
Henry's 2019 narrative feature directorial debut, Bloodline, was released by Blumhouse/Eone. Interestingly, it holds the dubious distinction of being the only Blumhouse film to receive an NC-17 rating due to its extreme brutality and explicit use of body horror practical effects. However, after acquiring the film, EOne recut the movie to secure an R rating for its theatrical release.
In the same year, Mind Hive theatrically released Emma Tammi's directorial debut, The Wind, through IFC Midnight, as well as the documentary feature Jay Myself, distributed by Oscilloscope. Henry's previous documentary features include Election Day: Lens Across America, released through Blumhouse/EPIX/Hulu, Fair Chase on Netflix, and Fambul Tok on EPIX/Netflix, among many others.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Henry attended Crossroads School before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampshire College and his Master of Arts degree from Oxford's School of Drama.
