Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Helene Udy is a dual citizen with a British passport, renowned for her portrayal of complex, misunderstood characters. Her most notable role is that of the series regular prostitute "Myra" on the popular CBS TV Western Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.
As one of two daughters, Helene began her acting career as a child in Canadian shows for the CBC, CTV, and Global Canadian television networks. She studied at Montreal's Dome Theater school and pursued a degree in film at Montreal's Dawson College, concurrently continuing her acting career in Canadian movies.
Before moving to New York for her soap series gig on As the World Turns, Helene worked on various Canadian projects, including films such as Pick-up Summer (1980),My Bloody Valentine (1981),Pin (1988),The Dead Zone (1983),and Hog Wild (1980).
In Los Angeles, Helene has produced and directed several plays, including "Out in America", which won several prestigious Backstage West Awards for Production and Direction. Her production, Rehab the Musical, won the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2010.
During her time as a series regular on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Helene solidified her reputation in independent genre films, working with talented filmmakers such as Troy Escamilla, Jake Zelch, Jackson Ward, and Jeff Schneider. She has also collaborated with genre master David De Coteau on several projects, including the comedic family film A Husband for Christmas.
In her free time, Helene is an acrobat who practices aerial silks and partner hand balancing. She has also studied with renowned clowns John Gilkey and Stefan Haves of Cirque du Soleil fame, as well as David Bridel of "The Clown school" in Los Angeles. Inspired by her newfound passion for comedy, Helene produces a monthly underground Cabaret clown show called "Was ist Das?" at her home in Los Angeles and is a standing member of the Clown Troupe "Mil Grus".
