Harry Horner was born in Bohemia, which is now part of the Czech Republic, but spent most of his early life in Austria. He received his formal education in architecture from the University of Vienna, graduating in 1934. During his time at the university, he also had the opportunity to study dramatic arts, directing, and costume design, which would later serve him well in his career.
