Harold Goodwin, a renowned English actor, was born on October 22, 1917, in Wombwell, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England.
He began his acting career by training at RADA and subsequently became a stage actor at Liverpool repertory theatre, where he spent three years honing his craft.
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Goodwin appeared in numerous British films, often portraying working-class characters from Northern England or low-ranking military personnel. His notable roles included parts in the war films The Dam Busters, The Bridge on the River Kwai, and The Longest Day.

He also had a notable role in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, playing the part of Joss Shackleton, father to Vera Duckworth, in the early 1990s.
