Biography

Harmen Jalvingh is a multifaceted creative producer of documentaries with a remarkable career spanning over two decades. With extensive experience in producing over 35 documentaries at various levels, including international, national, and regional, Harmen has had the privilege of accompanying and counseling numerous filmmakers, both seasoned and emerging, throughout the filmmaking process.

Prior to his current role at DOXY Films (formerly KeyDocs),Harmen worked for various production companies, including the Dutch broadcaster VARA, and Bonanza Films in Amsterdam. During his tenure at Bonanza Films, from 2004 to 2014, he produced several notable documentaries, including 'Parts of a Family' (2013),which won a Golden Calf as the best feature documentary, and 'FC Rwanda' (2013),by Joris Postema.

In recent years, Harmen has worked on a range of projects, including 'The Mystery of Milking Robots' (2017),'JESSE' (2017),'Daans Inheritance' (2016),'Becoming Zlatan' (2015),and 'De Mooiste Marathon' (2016). His international co-production, 'Becoming Zlatan' (2015),was a collaboration with Swedish Auto Images, WG Film, and Indyca from Italy.

Harmen's impressive portfolio also includes 'Bloody Mondays & Strawberry Pies' (2008),which was narrated by John Malkovich and won a Golden Calf. Other notable films he has worked on include 'The Price of Heaven' (2012),'The Potato Eaters' (2011),'Daughters of Malakeh' (2011),and 'Last Words' (2011),a film about and with Michel Houellebecq, featuring music composed by Iggy Pop.

In addition to his work in the film industry, Harmen is also a jury-member of Shortcutz Amsterdam, a weekly platform for shorts, and serves as a national info provider for co-productions within the European Documentary Network.
