Hannah Espia-Farbová is a renowned Filipino filmmaker and Fulbright Scholar, whose impressive debut feature film Transit (2013) garnered critical acclaim upon its premiere at the Busan International Film Festival.
This groundbreaking film was later hailed as an "impressive debut" by Variety and even served as the Philippines' entry to the 86th Academy Awards.
In 2014, Espia-Farbová made history by becoming only the third female director to receive the prestigious Gawad Urian Critic's Award for Best Director, an honor that was presented to her in recognition of her outstanding work in the film industry.
Years later, in 2018, Transit (2013) was showcased at the Museum of Modern Art in New York as part of the film series "A New Golden Age: Contemporary Philippine Cinema".
This notable achievement was followed by another milestone in 2019, when a poll conducted by Filipino critics ranked Transit (2013) 11 out of 100 Best Filipino Films directed by Women.
In addition to her work in film, Espia-Farbová has also ventured into television, directing two episodes of the American series Almost Paradise (2020),which was notable for being the first television series to be shot entirely in the Philippines.
