Biography

Hank Patterson's life story began in the charming town of Springville, Alabama, where he was born to loving parents, Green and Mary Newton Patterson. Interestingly, his great-grandfather, James Pearson, was one of the original settlers of St. Clair County, Alabama, a fact that adds a rich layer of history to Hank's heritage. Moreover, his mother's great-grandfather, Thomas Newton, was also an early settler of the region, further emphasizing the strong roots Hank had in the area.

In the mid-1890s, Hank's family made the bold decision to leave their Alabama home behind and relocate to Taylor, Texas. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter in Hank's life, as he attempted to pursue a career in music, albeit a serious one. Despite his efforts, he ultimately found himself playing the piano in traveling vaudeville shows, a career path that would serve as a stepping stone for his future endeavors.

As the 1920s arrived, Hank made his way to California, where he would lay the foundation for his successful film career. This new chapter in his life was marked by long-running stints on two beloved television series, Gunsmoke, which premiered in 1955, and Green Acres, which debuted in 1965.
