Thomas Henry Hall Caine, commonly known as Hall Caine, was a renowned novelist and dramatist who gained immense popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. Born on May 14, 1853, in Runcorn, Cheshire, England, Caine was the son of a Manx Man who moved to Liverpool, where he apprenticed as a ship's smith.
