Hakan Evrensel, born in 1967 in Ankara, Turkey, had a childhood dream of becoming a soldier, a dream he pursued with unwavering dedication. Growing up, he consistently responded to the inquiry about his future aspirations with the resolute declaration: "I want to become a soldier." His desire to push boundaries and face challenges led him to find himself in the midst of combat in Southeast Turkey.
As he delved deeper into the complexities of the conflict, Evrensel began to question the motivations and circumstances that had escalated the situation. His quest for answers ultimately led him to reevaluate his lifelong dream of a military career, and he made the bold decision to leave the forces behind.
Evrensel's journey as a journalist enabled him to channel his experiences into literary works. His debut book, "Tales from the Southeast," chronicles his real-life encounters, while his second book, "Ground Minus Two," is a fictional novel inspired by the characters he met during his time in the conflict zone.
In addition to his literary pursuits, Evrensel is a scriptwriter and military advisor for the film "Breath" (2009-Nefes: Vatan Sagolsun). The story and details of the film were drawn from his books, "Tales from the Southeast" and "Ground Minus Two."
Furthermore, Evrensel was involved in the scriptwriting and military coordination of the film project "Anatolian Eagles" (2011),a commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Turkish Aviation.
