She received her early education at Cheadle County Grammar School for Girls, where she simultaneously honed her theatrical skills by participating in the National Youth Theatre's production of Ben Jonson's 17th-century play, "Bartholomew Fair". Notably, she garnered widespread acclaim for her remarkable portrayal of Fat Urs, showcasing her innate talent and potential for future success. Subsequently, she pursued a degree in teaching at the prestigious Goldsmiths, University of London, only to later abandon her academic pursuits in favor of a career in repertory acting.
