Gurinder Chadha

Gurinder Chadha's life story commences in the vibrant nation of Kenya, where her early years unfolded. However, her formative experiences were largely shaped in Southall, a cosmopolitan region within the boundaries of London, England. Prior to carving out a niche for herself in the world of filmmaking, Chadha embarked on a career as a news reporter with BBC Radio, fostering her skills in the art of storytelling. Her impressive portfolio of work eventually led her to direct several award-winning documentaries for the esteemed BBC, a feat that undoubtedly bolstered her reputation within the industry. In tandem with this success, Chadha formed a fruitful alliance with the British Film Institute (BFI) and Channel Four, a partnership that would prove instrumental in her future endeavors. It was in the year 2001 that Chadha took the bold step of establishing her own production company, aptly titled Bend It Films, a venture that would serve as a platform for her creative vision and artistic expression.
