Biography

Maria Grazia Lombardo is a renowned Argentine tango dancer, milonguera, and choreographer born in La Plata, Buenos Aires, where she studied classical dance since childhood. She joined the renowned ballet of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata before moving to Buenos Aires to study tango with local milongueros.

She gained international recognition as a member of the Compañía TangoX2 and Tango Argentino, performing in London in 1991 and Buenos Aires in 1992. Maria Grazia then joined the cast of Forever Tango, fronted by Luis Bravo, and created the dramatic-choreographic-musical multimedia show Tango, historias breves.

She has appeared in several films, including Valentina's Tango (2007),where she played the role of Valentina. In 1989, she won the first Campeonato Municipal "Hugo Del Carril" with Osvaldo Zotto. She later joined Miguel Ángel Zotto's Compañía TangoX2 and Claudio Segovia and Héctor Orezzoli's Tango Argentino.

Maria Grazia has performed with notable artists such as Pablo Ziegler at Carnegie Hall, Jon Secada and Richard Marx at Soldier Field in Chicago, and Julio Iglesias on his world tour. She has also worked with Mariano Mores on his shows from 1992 to 2012.

In 1996, she devised the choreography for the Russian team of Oksana Grishuk and Evgeni Platov's dancing on ice performance of Mariano Mores's tango "Tanguera", which won the first place in the World Championship and the gold medal at the 1998 Nagano Olympic Games.

In 2003, she created the show Tango, historias breves, which has been performed in the United States under her direction. The show features three stories, comic scenes, a carnival of Venice, and excerpts from the movie Valentina's Tango.

Maria Grazia has also appeared in several motion pictures, including Luis Puenzo's La peste (1991),Robert Duvall's Assassination Tango (2002),and Valentina's Tango (2007) directed by Rogelio Lobato.
