Guillaume Aretos is a multifaceted individual, boasting a plethora of talents and accomplishments. As a Production Designer, he has made a significant impact in the world of animation, winning the esteemed Annie Award for Best Production Design for his work on the Oscar-winning feature "Shrek" in 2001. This recognition was not a one-time occurrence, as he has been nominated for three V.E.S. Awards for his work on the "Shrek series films" between 2001 and 2010, as well as for "Puss in Boots" in 2011.
Aretos' career in animation began in 1996, when he joined DreamWorks as a visual development artist on the animated hit "Antz" in 1998. This marked the first collaboration between PDI and DreamWorks, resulting in the production of the second-ever computer-generated animated feature film. He then went on to take on the Art Direction of "Shrek" between 1998 and 2001, before becoming the Production Designer for "Shrek 2" in 2004, "Shrek The Third" in 2007, and "Puss in Boots" in 2011.
In addition to his work on the "Shrek" series, Aretos has also contributed to the visual development of other notable films, including "The Croods" in 2008, "MegaMind" in 2010, and "Truckers" in 2012.
Prior to his career in filmmaking, Aretos had a successful career as an author and illustrator, publishing a collection of books through Albin Michel/Glenat, including "Le Livre Secret des Fourmis", "Le Livre Secret des Sorcieres", "Le Livre Secret des Extra-Terrestres", and "Le Livre Secret de L'Au-dela". He also exhibited his paintings in galleries across Europe.
Aretos holds a degree in Fine Arts from L'Ecole Superieure des Beaux Arts de Paris, where he graduated "Cum Laude". He also studied Industrial and Product Design at L'Ecole Nationale Superieure de Creation Industrielle. As a child actor, Aretos enjoyed a professional career in France, appearing in films, television shows, and stage productions. Notably, he played the role of Jack Tripper in the French version of the popular sitcom "Three's Company".
