Outside the confines of the radio station, Smith's creative energies were channeled into writing and staging several one-act plays, demonstrating his versatility as a writer. Additionally, he served as a contributing entertainment correspondent for the college newspaper, further solidifying his reputation as a talented and dedicated writer.
Upon earning his BBA in Operations Management from Baruch College, Smith's creative pursuits took on a new dimension. He wrote several screenplays, including the thought-provoking "The Staten Island Catapult", which was adapted into an award-winning documentary in 2005. The same year marked the completion of his first novel, "Birds", a testament to his boundless creativity and dedication to his craft.
