Biography

Gregor Fisher, born Gregor McKenzie, had a childhood shaped by his adoptive parents, Cis and John Leckie, in Neilston.

His early foray into television occurred in 1978, when he appeared alongside Rikki Fulton in the BBC sketch show Scotch & Wry.

As his popularity grew, he became a sought-after figure in the television world.

In 1986, he landed a role in Naked Video, a show that originated as a radio program, alongside notable actors such as Andy Gray, Elaine C. Smith, and Tony Roper.

This show gave birth to some of his most iconic characters, including the string-vested, hard-drinking 'Rab C. Nesbitt' and the self-absorbed, half-witted 'The Baldy Man', whose unconvincing comb-over added to his comedic charm.

The production team, particularly writer Phil Differ, took note of his visual comedic talents, and he was given the opportunity to star in 'The Man In The Photo Booth', a sketch inspired by the 'photo booth' sketch in Naked Video featuring 'The Baldy Man'.

The 'Rab C. Nesbitt' character's immense popularity led to the creation of his own show, Rab C. Nesbitt, in 1988, which has since aired ten series, concluding with a special episode in 2014.

Currently, the celebrated Scottish actor resides in France with his wife, actress Vicki Burton.
