Gregg Turkington, an Australian-American entertainer, was born in Darwin, Australia in 1967 to American parents. He spent his formative years in Arizona and California, where he would later lay the groundwork for his creative pursuits.
In the 1990s, Turkington founded the independent record label Amarillo Records in San Francisco, serving as a hub for his artistic endeavors. It was during this period that he began to develop his stand-up comedy persona, Neil Hamburger, which would go on to become a mainstay of the nightclub circuit.
Since 1999, Neil Hamburger has been a fixture on the global comedy scene, headlining clubs worldwide and serving as the support act for notable acts such as Faith No More, Puscifer, and Tenacious D. His versatility has also led to a successful career in voice-over work, with credits including cartoons produced for Disney, The Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon.
One of his most notable voice-over roles is that of "Toby Determined" on the popular animated series Gravity Falls, which premiered in 2012. The same year, Turkington made his breakthrough in the film world with a starring role in Rick Alverson's critically acclaimed drama, The Comedy.
Turkington's collaboration with director Rick Alverson and frequent co-star Tim Heidecker continued with the feature film drama Entertainment, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015. Additionally, that year he appeared in Marvel's blockbuster film, Ant-Man, playing the role of Dale, the beleaguered Baskin-Robbins manager.
