Biography

Gregg T. Daniel is a multifaceted talent, hailing from Brooklyn, who has made a name for himself as an actor and stage director. He is perhaps best known for his recurring role as David Carter in the critically acclaimed HBO series Insecure, and his portrayal of Reverend Daniels in another HBO hit, True Blood.

With an impressive 100+ credits to his name, Gregg's body of work spans a wide range of genres, including comedy (Hacks, Curb Your Enthusiasm, I Am Not Okay With This, Monk),drama (Good Trouble, For Life),procedurals (911, Grey's Anatomy),science fiction (Star Trek: Voyager),and children's shows (Alexa & Katie, Austin & Ally, Kickin' It). His feature film screen credits include Hancock, Spiderman 3, 7th & Union, and Truth Or Dare, with a standout role in the award-winning independent feature 7th And Union.

Gregg is also an accomplished theater director, serving as the founding member and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles-based Lower Depth Theatre. He has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award for his direction of the Los Angeles production of playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah's "Elmina's Kitchen", and won the NAACP Award for Best Ensemble. In addition, he has directed five of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson's "Century Cycle" works, including "Seven Guitars" and "King Hedley II" for A Noise Within Theatre Company in Pasadena.

Gregg's extensive stage direction credits include Tom Stoppard's "Heroes", Sybyl Walker's "Beneath Rippling Waters", Lee Blessing's "Cobb", and Frank McGuinness's "Someone Who'll Watch Over Me". He has also directed Athol Fugard's "Sizwe Bansi", Diana Son's "Stop Kiss", and the 2004 Pulitzer Prize-winning "I Am My Own Wife" by Doug Wright for Theatre 150 in Ojai, California.

Gregg's acting credits include Romeo & Juliet for the Shakespeare Center of L.A., Back Country Crimes and Gogol for the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Joe Turner's Come and Gone for the Mark Taper Forum, Jitney for the Pasadena Playhouse, Master Harold for Actors Theatre of Louisville, Peer Gynt for the Hartford Stage Company, and A Christmas Carol, James & The Giant Peach, Fences, and Death Of A Salesman for South Coast Repertory.

Currently, Gregg is set to appear in the upcoming sequel of Joker, Joker: Folie à Deux, and is scheduled to direct his sixth A. Wilson play with A Noise within, the Pulitzer Prize-winning "The Piano Lesson", which will bring him halfway through the playwright's ten-play cycle.
