Greg Silverman was appointed President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures in June 2013, overseeing the development activities, global production, and budget of the renowned studio. In this pivotal role, he collaborates with senior management to identify new opportunities for growth and diversification, building upon the company's consistent success. Silverman reports directly to Kevin Tsujihara, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros.
As a recognized industry leader, Warner Bros. Pictures boasts an impressive 16-year streak of surpassing the billion-dollar mark at both the domestic and international box offices, fueled by critically acclaimed and commercially successful films. In 2015, the studio achieved a worldwide gross of $3.7 billion, marking the ninth consecutive year it crossed the $3 billion global benchmark.
Among its notable releases in 2016 were the box office hits "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad," as well as "Sully," "The Accountant," and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
Prior to his current position, Silverman served as President, Production, Warner Bros. Pictures for two years, following various senior roles within the Pictures Group, including Executive Vice President, Creative Development and Production. During this tenure, he played a crucial role in the development and production of highly successful and critically acclaimed films such as "300," "The Dark Knight," "The Hangover," and the global phenomenon "Inception."
Silverman initially joined Warner Bros. in 1997 as a junior production executive, working on notable films such as "The Matrix," "A Perfect Murder," and "Cats & Dogs." He then joined Revolution Studios as Senior Vice President, Production, overseeing projects like "America's Sweethearts," "The One," and "The New Guy," before returning to Warner Bros. Pictures in 2002 as Vice President, Production. Silverman was subsequently promoted to Senior Vice President, Production in 2004 and then to Executive Vice President, Production in 2007.
Throughout his career, he has overseen production on a wide range of projects, including "The Dukes of Hazzard," "The Lake House," "The Bucket List," "Beerfest," "Batman Begins," "Troy," "Get Smart," and "Yes Man."
Silverman began his journey in the entertainment industry by working in craft services on the independent film "Two Guys Talkin' About Girls" and later became an assistant at Tri-Star and Mandeville Films before joining Mad Chance as a production executive.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Silverman is actively involved in various philanthropic and educational initiatives. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of The Oakwood School, is a board member of both the Art Center College of Design and the Time Warner Foundation, and is a founding member of the Certification Committee for Got Your Six, a campaign that unites nonprofit, Hollywood, and government partners.
Silverman holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Stanford University.
