Biography

Person Biography:

Born in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, McGeagh began his film career in close partnership with childhood friends Graham Hughes and Keith Grantham. The trio's first collaborative effort was the feature-length comedy film, The Big Slick, released in 2011. The film, which also starred McGeagh, Hughes, and Grantham in acting roles, tells the story of six young men whose attempt to spend a quiet night in quickly spirals out of control. The film's overwhelming success earned the trio a nomination for best achievement in writing at the 2011 British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards. They went on to win the accolade at the ceremony held at the Glasgow Film Theatre on March 11, 2011.

Following the success of The Big Slick, McGeagh reunited with Hughes and Grantham in 2013 to write their next feature film, A Practical Guide to a Spectacular Suicide, released in 2014. The film, directed by Hughes, is a story about a man named Tom Collins whose string of failed suicide attempts leads him to plan what he dubs his own "spectacular suicide." McGeagh not only co-wrote the film but also accepted the lead role. Director Graham Hughes praised McGeagh's talent, stating, "I think he's a talent-and was the right guy for the part." The film received positive reviews both domestically and internationally. McGeagh's performance earned him a second Bafta nomination at the 2014 British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards for Best Acting Performance.
