Biography

Goran Stolevski was born and raised in North Macedonia before embarking on a journey to Australia at a young age, where he would go on to complete a Bachelor of Creative Arts at the esteemed University of Melbourne.

Following his undergraduate studies, Stolevski further honed his craft by pursuing a Master's degree in Film and Television at the renowned Victorian College of the Arts.

His impressive directorial skills were soon recognized, as he took home the prestigious Ruben Mamoulian Best Director Award at the 2016 Sydney Film Festival for his work on the film "You Deserve Everything".

Stolevski's talent did not go unnoticed, as he was invited to attend the Berlinale Talent Campus and MIFF Accelerator, a testament to his growing reputation in the industry.

Additionally, his short film "My Boy Oleg" earned him the $50,000 Lexus Fellowship, a significant achievement in his burgeoning career.

To date, Stolevski has had an impressive 25 shorts screened at over 100 film festivals across six continents, including the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand, Melbourne, Raindance, Adelaide, and London Shorts festivals.

As an alumnus of Screen Australia's Talent Escalator initiative, Stolevski has had the opportunity to further develop his skills and network within the industry.

In addition to his work on short films, Stolevski has also ventured into television, directing three episodes of the popular Australian adventure series "Nowhere Boys".

As a prolific writer, Stolevski has penned nine feature scripts, with his tenth, "You'll Love Me", receiving a development grant from Screen Australia, a significant milestone in his career.

Goran Stolevski was born and grew up in North Macedonia before migrating to Australia as a teenager.
