Biography

William G. Scott, born in 1952 in Bessemer, Alabama, began his educational journey at Birmingham-Southern College, where he spent two formative years before venturing to New York City, a move that would ultimately precede his relocation to Hollywood in the late 1970s.

Undergoing a name change to Glenn Shadix, he made his film debut in the 1981 release of The Postman Always Rings Twice, which received mixed reviews. However, his breakthrough role arrived in 1988 with Tim Burton's iconic film Beetlejuice, where he played the flamboyant and sinister interior designer Otho, whose fascination with the paranormal often led to precarious situations.

Tim Burton continued to showcase Shadix's versatility by casting him as the voice of the Mayor of Halloween Town in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and Senator Nado in Planet of the Apes (2001).

In addition to his impressive filmography, Shadix also made notable appearances on television, including episodes of NBC's Seinfeld (1989) and HBO's Carnivàle (2003).

Tragically, on September 7, 2010, Shadix suffered a fatal accident at his condominium in Birmingham, Alabama, resulting in blunt trauma to his head. Despite having pre-existing mobility issues and being wheelchair-bound, his death came as a shock to his loved ones and fans alike.
