Person biography:

Ginger Rogers was born Virginia Katherine McMath on July 16, 1911, in Independence, Missouri, to Lela E. Rogers and William Eddins McMath. Her mother left her father due to a previous stillborn child and was kidnapped by her father several times before finally taking him to court. Ginger was raised by her grandparents while her mother worked as a scriptwriter in Hollywood and New York City. She reunited with her mother in 1918 and later married John Rogers, a Marine, in 1920.
