Born in Australia, Gil spent his formative years in Hong Kong, where he developed a unique proficiency in two languages - Cantonese and Portuguese. Prior to his illustrious career in the performing arts, Gil was an accomplished field hockey player with a dream of representing Australia in the Olympic Games. However, his trajectory took an unexpected turn after attending a London production of The Phantom of the Opera, which inspired him to pursue a life in performance.
Gil's determination and ambition led him to secure a spot at London's prestigious Mountview Theatre School, marking the beginning of his illustrious career. His early credits in the UK include notable roles in popular television shows such as "Hollyoaks", "Holby City", "Doctors", "Brookside", and "The Bill".
After relocating to Los Angeles, Gil's career continued to flourish, with standout performances in "Entourage" and numerous memorable commercial spots, including the highly acclaimed #1 Super Bowl Commercial of 2011 for Audi. He credits his Ketel One advertising campaign with transforming his career and saving him from a potentially mundane 9-to-5 job.
Gil's filmography boasts a diverse range of projects, including "All Things to All Men" alongside Gabriel Byrne, "Amnesia", "Don't Look Up", and the 2014 release of "Redirected", a black comedy described as a fusion of "The Hangover" and "Snatch". His upcoming projects include a recurring role as Christian de Guise in the CW's period drama "Reign".
When he's not busy with his acting career, Gil is passionate about horse racing and is currently immersed in the Chinese martial art Wu Shu, training for an upcoming trilogy that he is writing and producing. The project, based on the true story of his twin brothers, will be shot in Hong Kong.
