Gideon Jacobs embarked on a professional acting career at the tender age of six, continuing to hone his craft until the age of seventeen. An interesting aspect of his experiences on set was the way he would respond to adults inquiring about his future aspirations. Unlike many of his peers, Jacobs would not express a desire to become an actor, instead opting to declare his ambition to become a writer.
Following his departure from the world of acting, Jacobs returned to New York City after completing his college education. He subsequently spent four years working at the renowned photography cooperative, Magnum Photos, before making the bold decision to dedicate himself to writing full-time.
In the present day, Jacobs is a prolific contributor to a diverse range of publications, including The New Yorker, The New York Times, Artforum, The Paris Review, BOMB Magazine, and The New York Review of Books, to name but a few. Notwithstanding his varied writing endeavors, Jacobs' primary focus remains on fiction, with an in-progress short story collection and a novel currently in development.
It is worth noting that, although Jacobs has distanced himself from the world of acting, he would be open to revisiting the craft in some capacity should the right project come along.
