Georgie Roland, a distinguished alumnus of Cornell University, further honed his skills at the prestigious London School of Economics and the University of Southern California's esteemed Graduate Film Program. Following a successful career in writing and directing, which earned him accolades in the industry, Roland's disillusionment with the Hollywood scene prompted him to return to his hometown in Pennsylvania, where he took on various blue-collar jobs.
Drawing from his diverse experiences, Roland has several projects in various stages of development, including his debut narrative feature, set in Northeastern Pennsylvania, as well as a novel inspired by his two-year tenure as Night Shift Supervisor in the kitchen of a Pennsylvania County Prison.
Roland's first documentary feature, "The Town That Was," is slated for release this year. Co-directed with his creative partner, Chris Perkel, the film is a poignant character study of one of the last 11 remaining residents of Centralia, Pennsylvania, a town devastated by an underground mine fire.
