Biography

George, a Boston native, graduated from Syracuse University and embarked on a prolific career in television and film, spanning over four decades. His notable film credits include a critically acclaimed performance as Rabbi Nachtner in the Coen Brothers' 2009 nominee for Best Picture, A Serious Man. Furthermore, he has appeared in Mel Brooks' 1987 sci-fi comedy Spaceballs, playing the role of Colonel Sandurz, as well as To Be or Not to Be, a 1983 film directed by Mel Brooks himself.

In addition to his numerous film credits, George has accumulated an impressive array of television appearances, boasting over 150 guest star roles and nine series regular stints. His most notable television role is arguably his portrayal of Deputy D.A. Irwin Bernstein on the iconic Hill Street Blues, a character he brought to life for six seasons in the early 1980s.

George's impressive resume also includes appearances in beloved classics such as Fletch (1985) and its sequel Fletch Lives (1989),as well as more recent films like The Devil's Advocate (1997) and Trouble with the Curve (2012).
