Geoffrey Jacob Deuel, a talented American supporting actor, left a lasting impact on the world of episodic television between 1966 and 1975. Born to physician Dr. Ellsworth Shaut Deuel and his wife Lillian Marcella Ellstrom, Geoffrey was the younger brother of actor Pete Duel, who gained fame as outlaw Hannibal Heyes, aka Joshua Smith, in the popular TV western series Alias Smith and Jones, which aired in 1971.
Geoffrey's educational background was marked by attendance at Ithaca College and Syracuse University. Later, in 1987, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of Florida. Despite his father's wishes for him to pursue a career in law, Geoffrey followed in his brother's footsteps to Hollywood, where he began acting on screen in 1966.
Geoffrey's most notable film appearance was in the western Chisum, released in 1970, where he played the notorious outlaw Billy the Kid, opposite the legendary John Wayne as the titular cattle baron. Throughout his career, he also made notable appearances in episodes of popular prime-time action series, including The Invaders, The High Chaparral, Mission: Impossible, The F.B.I., The Streets of San Francisco, Ironside, and Mannix.
As his screen appearances became less frequent from the mid-1970s, Geoffrey shifted his focus to teaching theatre and social studies, as well as math and science.
