Gene Wolande, a talented actor, writer, and director, hails from Chicago and earned his Master of Fine Arts Degree before moving to Los Angeles. As a company member of the esteemed Dallas Theater Center, he refined his craft through numerous performances and directing credits.
Wolande's big break came in 1985 with the hit film RoboCop, and he has since appeared in a wide range of critically acclaimed movies, including L.A. Confidential, The Negotiator, A Civil Action, Chaplin, and Best Laid Plans.
On television, he has made notable recurring appearances on the acclaimed HBO series Carnivàle and guest-starred on popular shows such as Desperate Housewives, ER, Married... with Children, and Party of Five.
As a writer, Wolande has worked on a diverse range of projects, including the beloved coming-of-age series The Wonder Years and the iconic sci-fi show Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. His screenplay Slivers Oakley earned recognition from Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope Screenplay Competition.
In addition to his writing credits, Wolande has also directed the film Three Shots, which received accolades at several prestigious film festivals, including the Director's View Film Festival, the Sarasota Film Festival, the Ashland Independent Film Festival, and the New York Independent Film Festival.
Beyond his work in the entertainment industry, Wolande has also served as a dialect coach, film history professor, and acting instructor, working with esteemed actors such as Steppenwolf Theatre founder Jeff Perry.
Currently, Wolande is completing the suspense-thriller Timeframe and co-producing a film based on Chicago's beloved 16-inch No-Gloves softball tradition.
