Gary Sturm, a native Angeleno, began his journey after serving in the Air Force, whereupon he returned to his hometown to pursue his passion for acting at El Camino College. His subsequent appearances in and direction of numerous theater productions in the Los Angeles area earned him widespread acclaim, particularly for his portrayal of "Nico" in the original play, Yesterday's Tomorrow, which received rave reviews.
Gary's talents extended beyond the stage, as he went on to write and direct his critically acclaimed short film, The Casualty, which would later be featured on HBO. He also directed a TV pilot, after which he married and put his career on hold to focus on his education, writing, and personal life.
Gary's personal life took a significant turn when he got divorced and embarked on several journeys to Europe, where he gained firsthand experience of the "Iron Curtain" in East Germany and Hungary. He was present at the Berlin Wall during its final days, a poignant moment in history.
Gary's second marriage led him to Japan, where he spent four years teaching English and writing. Upon his return to the United States, he taught English at Los Angeles Pierce College. After a hiatus from acting, Gary returned to the profession in 2000, appearing in or providing voiceovers for numerous commercials.
Gary has since appeared in leading roles in several independent film productions and is the author of a short story collection and two novels: Dreamers and Other Stories, The Secrets of Time, and The Shepherd of Destiny. Gary currently resides near Los Angeles with his wife, Etsuko.
