Garret Joseph Noel is a multifaceted American actor, writer, and director,
born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, but raised in Minnesota and throughout the Pacific Northwest. His family background is steeped in entrepreneurial and professional history. His grandfather, Earl Warner, was one of the founders of the American Crystal Sugar Company, a significant contributor to the region's economy. Noel's mother, Rebecca Ann Warner, hails from a small Scandinavian farming community in Hillsboro, where she worked on a sugar beet farm before taking a position with Northwest Airlines. His father, Roger, was born in Mayville, North Dakota, and worked as a salesman for a chain of retail clothing stores. This diverse family heritage has undoubtedly influenced Noel's creative pursuits.
As an actor, Noel has gained recognition for his roles in Marvel Studio's production of Iron Man, where he played the part of Pratt, a young Marine, and in Dreamworks' production of Cowboys and Aliens, where he portrayed the character "Duke," part of Jake Lonergan's (Daniel Craig) gang. However, Noel has also ventured into more serious and personal projects, such as the film "Wayward Pilgrim," which he wrote, directed, and starred in. The movie tells the story of a young father, recently released from prison, struggling to adjust to a deteriorating society and reconnect with his four-year-old daughter. "Wayward Pilgrim" is set for a 2012 release.
Noel's creative endeavors do not stop at acting. He is currently penning the screenplay for "Folsom Prison Blues" alongside John Carter Cash. This project aims to tell the story behind the infamous Johnny Cash song, as well as several other Cash works.
