Gale Harold was born and raised in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia, where he spent his formative years developing a strong foundation for his future endeavors. After completing his studies in photography and printmaking at the esteemed San Francisco Art Institute, Harold began to explore his passion for acting, thanks to the encouragement of writer and producer Susie Landau Finch, who was then working at American Zoetrope. This marked the beginning of his three-year training period in acting, during which he honed his craft through extensive theatre work.
Harold's impressive filmography includes a range of critically acclaimed projects, such as Wake, Particles of Truth (Tribeca Film Festival),Rhinoceros Eyes (Toronto Film Festival),Fathers and Sons, The Unseen, and Falling For Grace. Alongside executive producer David Bowie and producer Mia Bays, Harold co-produced the film Scott Walker: 30th Century Man, directed by Stephen Kijak. The film premiered at the London Film Festival and later debuted internationally at the Berlin International Film Festival, with its U.S. premiere taking place at the South By Southwest Film Festival.
In addition to his film work, Harold has also made a significant impact in television, starring as Connor Lang in the SYFY series "Defiance", created by Rockne S. O'Bannon and Kevin Murphy. He has also had regular roles on the series "The Secret Circle" and "Hellcats", and has recurred on Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning shows such as "Deadwood", "Desperate Housewives", and "Grey's Anatomy". Harold has made guest appearances on "Street Time", "The Unit", "Law and Order SVU", and "CSI: NY".
On the stage, Harold has had the opportunity to showcase his talents in a range of productions, including Tennessee Williams' Suddenly Last Summer, opposite Carla Gugino and Blythe Danner, for the Roundabout Theatre Company. His performance was hailed as "brilliant" by the Los Angeles Times, and the play received the McCulloh Award For Revival from the Los Angeles Dramatic Critics Circle in 2011. Harold has also performed in Austin Pendleton's Uncle Bob at the Soho Playhouse, Gillian Plowman's Me and My Friend at The Los Angeles Theatre Center, and various productions with A Noise Within Repertory Company.
