Biography

Gabrielle Dennis is a multi-talented artist with a diverse background in dance, acting, and singing, which began at the tender age of four. As a child, she knew she would pursue a career in the arts, and her extensive experience in stage and film has led to her recognition in television. Notably, her recurring role as Janay Brice on the hit series "The Game" (CW & BET) spanned three seasons, and after the show's initial cancellation, a fan-led campaign successfully secured its revival on BET.

Following her departure from "The Game" in 2012, Gabrielle went on to star in the first season of "Blue Mountain State" (Spike TV) and made guest appearances on various shows, including "Justified" (FX),"Bones" (Fox),and "Baby Daddy" (ABC Family). She then landed her first network series regular role on "Rosewood" (Fox),where she played Pippy Rosewood, the titular character's sister. This role showcased her singing talents, as she recorded several songs for the series and its soundtrack.

Although "Rosewood" was cancelled after two seasons, Gabrielle quickly secured her next series regular role as Tilda Johnson, aka Nightshade, on the junior season of Marvel's "Luke Cage" (Netflix). She again showcased her singing abilities with the song "Family First," which she performed and wrote for the show's climactic reveal. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled due to Disney's decision to remove its series from Netflix.

However, this development allowed Gabrielle to take on the role of Whitney Houston in the two-part mini-series "The Bobby Brown Story" (BET),earning her an NAACP Image Award nomination for her performance and a win for the series. Since then, she has portrayed Tina Turner in an episode of "American Soul" (BET) and recurred on "Insecure" (HBO) and "S.W.A.T" (CBS).

In 2019, Gabrielle returned to her comedy roots when Robin Thede, a fellow comedian, approached her to co-star in the HBO series "A Black Lady Sketch Show," which earned three Emmy nominations in its first season. Gabrielle has also performed stand-up comedy, toured with a sketch troupe, and had a series regular role on "The Underground" (Showtime). Fans were surprised to see her portray over two dozen characters in the first two seasons of "A Black Lady Sketch Show" and eagerly anticipate her future appearances.

In 2020, Gabrielle returned to Netflix as a recurring character on the new series "The Upshaws" as Tasha, allowing fans to experience her comedic talents once more. In 2021, she landed her first leading lady role for a network television pilot, "Someone Out There" (CBS),which is scheduled to film in summer 2021.
