Freddy Macdonald, a remarkable individual, has achieved numerous accolades and milestones in his career. Notably, he is the youngest Directing Fellow to be accepted into the esteemed AFI Conservatory. His feature film debut, SEW TORN, garnered critical acclaim and premiered at the renowned SXSW festival, followed by a headlining appearance on the Piazza Grande at Locarno. The SEW TORN proof of concept short, which served as Freddy's AFI admission film, was executive produced by Peter Spears, known for his work on CALL ME BY YOUR NAME and NOMADLAND. This short was subsequently acquired by Searchlight Pictures and received an Oscar-qualifying theatrical release nationwide, coinciding with the release of READY OR NOT.
Freddy's AFI thesis film, SHEDDING ANGELS, won a Student Academy Award and was shortlisted for a student BAFTA, further solidifying his reputation as a talented and accomplished filmmaker. In addition to his work in film, Freddy has also directed four music videos for the three-time Grammy winner Fantastic Negrito, as well as the performance of Fantastic Negrito on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Furthermore, Freddy has created three viral documentaries showcasing the work of hardware hacker Joe Grand. He is currently represented by UTA, a testament to his growing success in the industry.
