He has a younger brother, Albert "Bertie" Highmore, and grew up in a family with a strong connection to the arts.

Highmore's educational background is impressive, having attended Highgate School and later a earning double-first degree in Spanish and Arabic from Cambridge University's Emmanuel College. This academic achievement showcases his dedication to his studies and his ability to excel in various fields.

In 1999, Highmore made his big screen debut in the comedy film "Women Talking Dirty," where he played the role of Helena Bonham Carter's son.
