Frank Kane, a renowned writer, was born in New York, and by the age of 19, he had already completed his college education at New York University. This remarkable individual went on to have a prolific career spanning several decades, from the 1930s to the 1960s.
During this period, Kane authored numerous books, radio shows, and television series. He is most notably recognized for his popular book series featuring the adventures of detective Johnny Liddell. The character of Johnny Liddell was the hero of over 30 books, more than 400 short stories, and was showcased in detective magazines such as "Manhunt", "The Saint", "Private Eye", and "Pursuit".
Kane's impressive writing skills also led him to pen scripts for some of the most popular radio programs of the day. He spent six years as the writer for the beloved show "The Shadow". Other notable detective shows he wrote for included "Gang Busters", "Casey, Crime Photographer", and "Nick Carter". Additionally, he created, wrote, and produced "Claims Agent" for NBC, which was based on his character, Jim Rogers, Claims Agent.
Later in his career, Frank Kane transitioned to writing for television networks, including Special Agent 7 (1958),The Investigators (1961),and most notably, Mike Hammer (1958). One of his most popular books, "Key Witness", was adapted into a movie, Key Witness (1960).
Sadly, Frank Kane's life was cut short when he passed away unexpectedly at his home in Manahasset, NY, in 1968, leaving many projects unfinished.
