Biography

Frank Fontaine's life began in Montreal, where he was born, before his family relocated to New York State and eventually England. His childhood was marked by an average dysfunctional family environment. Frank's academic journey started at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., but he later left to pursue his passion for drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Since then, he has created over a hundred characters on screen and stage. His feature film credits include The Covenant, The Last Kiss, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, The Sum of all Fears, Where the Money Is, The Bone Collector, and Two Summers. His television credits are equally impressive, featuring titles such as At the Hotel, The Reagans, Redeemer, Indian Summer, Foreign Objects, Nurenberg, and Maurice Richard.

Frank's stage performances are equally noteworthy, with notable roles including Samuel Beckett in Burnt Piano, Caesar in Julius Caesar, Malvolio in Twelfth Night, Henry in The Fantasticks, Norman in On Golden Pond, Charles in The Middle Ages, Frank Srang in Equus, Lord Brockhurst in The Boyfriend, and Von Strack in Amadeus.

One of Frank's greatest strengths is his boundless energy, which allows him to take risks and explore new characters. He enjoys playing multidimensional characters who defy categorization. When asked about the similarities between himself and his character Herbert Poppy from Two Summers, Frank replied that they had become close friends and often influenced each other's actions, but ultimately went their separate ways after the project was completed.

Trust plays a significant role in Frank's life and work. He believes that the more trusting he is of himself and those around him, the better his work becomes. Frank's background in journalism, having worked as a news reporter for CFCM (Tele 4) and CKMI 5 in Quebec City during the 1970s and 1980s, has also contributed to his storytelling abilities. He is a skilled writer and has written television and stage plays such as The Great Bergen, The Monster, The Great Symphonic Adventure, The Inquest, and Others, which have been produced by the CBC. Frank's talent for creating engaging characters is evident in both his written work and his acting performances.
