Frances Barber is a highly acclaimed actress who has had a successful career in both film and television. She has worked with numerous award-winning productions for the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, taking on a wide range of roles.
In film, Barber has appeared in a variety of productions, including "Prick Up Your Ears" (1987),"Sammy and Rosie Get Laid" (1987),"Secret Friends" (1991),"Shiner" (2000),"A Zed & Two Noughts" (1985),"Soft Top Hard Shoulder" (1992),and "Still Crazy" (1998). She has also appeared in more recent films such as "The Escort" (1999) and "Esther Kahn" (2000).
In television, Barber made her breakthrough in Mike Leigh's "Home Sweet Home" (1982). She has since appeared in a number of TV productions, including "Twelfth Night, or What You Will" (1988),"Annie Besant", "Inspector Morse" (1987),"Spitting Image" (1984),and the BBC's adaptation of "Love in a Cold Climate" (2001).
On stage, Barber has won numerous awards for her performances, including the 1984 Olivier award for Most Promising Newcomer for her role as Marguerite in the RSC production of "Camille". She has worked in some of the UK's most prestigious theatres, including the Royal National Theatre, the RSC, Hull Truck, Oxford Playhouse, the Royal Exchange, the Donmar Warehouse, and the Royal Court.
Frances Barber attended Bangor university and has gone on to have a successful career in the entertainment industry.
