At the tender age of 16, Edward Allan Poe, who would later become a renowned figure in the film industry, made the bold decision to forgo his secondary education and pursue a career in the entertainment world. He landed a job as a messenger for a film exchange, earning a modest php18 per week.
Little did anyone know that Poe's exceptional marksmanship and horsemanship skills would soon make him a sought-after figure in the industry. His childhood summers spent riding ponies at Baguio's Burnham Park, coupled with the riding lessons he received, would prove to be instrumental in his future success as a stunt double.
The turning point in Poe's career came when lead actress Lilia Dizon, who was filming "Simaron" alongside Johnny Moreiro, suffered a sprained ankle, rendering her unable to perform a crucial riding scene. Poe, being asked to fill in for the injured actress, donned a shirt, tied a bandana around his head, and convincingly portrayed a female character on horseback. His impressive riding skills left a lasting impression on the film crew, cementing his status as a regular stuntman at Everlasting Studio.
