Faye Marlowe, a bright and spirited individual with fiery red hair and dimpled cheeks, was born in a Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers near the 20th Century Fox lot in Los Angeles. Her early life took an unexpected turn when she was abandoned by her father, who struggled with alcoholism. However, her luck changed when she was adopted by acclaimed vaudevillian Fanchon and her husband, restaurateur William Simon. Faye's adoptive parents showered her with love and attention, and she was fortunate to have had access to quality education at Beverly Hills High School and later at Los Angeles University High School, where she graduated in 1943.
