Esra, a filmmaker with a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate Film Program, embodies the spirit of cultural fusion, bridging the gap between her Turkish heritage and her American creative endeavors. Her debut feature film, ACROSS THE SEA (2014),garnered widespread critical acclaim, earning multiple awards in Turkey and at international festivals such as Slamdance and the Milano Int. Film Festival. The film's theatrical release in Turkey was accompanied by a simultaneous release on Amazon Prime in the United States, showcasing Esra's ability to transcend geographical boundaries.
Throughout her career, Esra has been recognized by prestigious programs and organizations, including EAVE's Ties That Bind, Sundance Screenwriters' Lab (Istanbul),Meetings on the Bridge, IFP Film Week, Global Media Makers/Film Independent, Cine Qua Non Lab, and Stowe Story Lab. Her talent and dedication have also earned her a spot in the Berlinale Talent Program in 2018.
In addition to her filmmaking endeavors, Esra has also received notable accolades, including the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Fellowship and SAGIndie Fellowship. Furthermore, as part of her research for her upcoming project, THE MESOPOTAMIAN, Esra completed a training program and received her NY State EMT Certificate, exemplifying her commitment to excellence and her willingness to push beyond her creative boundaries.
