Errol Taggart, a Canadian national, made his way to the United States around 1920, prompted by concerns for his health. In the 1930 census, he listed his profession as a "motion picture actor", although it appears that he never received any on-screen credits for his work. However, Johnny Eck, who played the half-man in the renowned film "Freaks" (1932),directed by Tod Browning, corroborated in an interview conducted in 1980 that Taggart held the position of assistant director for that very same film.
