Ernest Brawley, a native Californian, embarked on a journey that would take him to the University of California at Santa Barbara and San Francisco State University, where he was awarded multiple writing scholarships and a Master's Degree in Creative Writing. This marked the beginning of a life devoted to writing, teaching, and exploring the world. Brawley's academic pursuits led him to teach at prestigious institutions such as the University of Hawaii, Hunter College, New York University, and the Sorbonne.
Throughout his life, he has resided and worked in various cities around the globe, including Buenos Aires, Paris, Rome, London, Bombay, Bangkok, Tokyo, and New York. His impressive portfolio includes numerous short stories, magazine articles, and book reviews, as well as three novels. The first, THE RAP, was initially published by Atheneum and garnered significant attention, becoming a Dual Main Selection with Book of the Month Club, a mass market paperback, and a feature film.
Brawley's second novel, SELENA, was also published by Atheneum and was a main selection at Literary Guild and a mass market paperback with Signet and Granada in England. It was subsequently purchased by Twentieth Century Fox. His third novel, THE ALAMO TREE, was published by Simon & Schuster and was a featured selection at Literary Guild.
In addition to his literary endeavors, Brawley has written two film scripts, THE DRESSING OF THE DEAD and THE NORTHMEN. His prison novel, THE RAP, will be republished on April 30, 2015, by Little Machines Press/Roots Digital Media and, is currently available for purchase on Amazon/Kindle. SELENA will soon be republished by the same publisher, and his new novel, BLOOD MOON, will follow shortly thereafter.
At present, Brawley is working on two projects: a novel set in Vietnam War era Laos entitled THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE, and a crime thriller film script set in New York in 1975.
