Biography

Eric "Baby Sosa" Rutledge is a multifaceted creative force, boasting a portfolio that includes writing, producing, and acting credits in various film and music projects. His notable works include the 2020 film "Baby n the Hood", the 2022 film "The Thot of Murder", and the 2022 film "For the Love of Cash", with a sequel, "For the Love of Cash 2", released in 2023.

Born in Lansing, Michigan, to a single mother, Eric has 11 siblings and has had to navigate the challenges of growing up with a large family. He began his career as a hip-hop artist, achieving local fame during his teenage years and early twenties. Eric's rise to prominence was marked by his association with the local record label, Smash Many Records, where he released several successful albums.

However, tragedy struck when his co-producer was convicted of murder, and Eric's other producer was arrested on drug charges, leaving him to continue his career solo. Undeterred, Eric collaborated with his close friend, Curshawn "Lakaz" Terrell, to produce his debut studio album, "Ball Hawg", which garnered attention and led to opening gigs for notable hip-hop artists such as Twista, Doughboys, Cashout, Shawna, Ludacris, Waka Flocka, YG, and others.

Despite achieving success, Eric's life took a dramatic turn when he was imprisoned after serving his sentence. Upon his release, he dedicated himself to his craft, starring in the 2020 indie film "Baby n the Hood" and the 2021 film "The Thot of Murder". However, contract disputes and management issues led Eric to take control of his projects, writing, directing, and starring in the 2022 film "For the Love of Cash".

The film's moderate success only served as a catalyst for Eric's passion for filmmaking, and he vowed to continue pushing the boundaries of the independent film industry. Tragedy struck once more when his best friend and producer, Curshawn "Lakaz" Terrell, was senselessly murdered, leaving Eric traumatized and questioning his future in the industry.

After a period of mourning, Eric made a promise to himself to become a serious filmmaker, and he began working on his latest project, "For the Love of Cash 2". With his unique blend of experiences as a hip-hop artist, a former inmate, and a filmmaker, Eric brings a distinctive perspective to his work, drawing inspiration from the likes of John Singleton, Martin Scorsese, and Quentin Tarantino.
