Eric Summer's journey began in Brittany, France, where he started his career by directing short films, advertising spots, and corporate videos. He then ventured into documentary filmmaking, producing and directing the four-season series "Phenomena," which was sold in over 50 countries.
In 1998, Summer shifted his focus to international television series, directing shows like "The New Adventures of Robin Hood," "25 South," and "Dark Realm." Throughout his career, he has directed 19 TV movies and over 150 episodes of various series, experimenting with different genres such as thriller, comedy, fantasy, and action.
In 2001, Summer relocated to Montreal, Canada, and began to focus on screenwriting. He wrote his first English-speaking script, "Angeline," a feminist thriller with a touch of humor. The story was later adapted into a graphic novel series by a French comic book publisher, which won the award for "best comics series" at a major French comics festival in 2006.
Summer's next project was the TV series "Profilage" ("Profiling") for French channel TF1, which premiered in 2008. His artistic choices for casting and visual style made the show a standout among audiences and critics.
After meeting graphic designer Eric Warin in Montreal, Summer co-directed the animated movie "Ballerina" ("Leap!"),which was produced by Quad (France) and Caramel Films (Quebec). The film was released in France in December 2016 and went on to achieve a successful international run, being released in over 20 countries.
In 2014, Summer settled in Nashville, Tennessee, and has since split his time between directing and writing. He is currently developing a new animated movie set in Ireland and has just completed the post-production of the action TV movie "Crystal Inferno," starring Claire Forlani and Jamie Bamber.
