Biography

Endre was born and raised in Hungary, immersing himself in the rich cultural heritage of his homeland. At the tender age of 17, he began his journey as a writer, composer, and director at the prestigious Cellar Theatre in Budapest, where he honed his craft and developed a passion for the performing arts.

As a young artist, Endre sought out opportunities to learn from the masters, frequenting the renowned Laboratory Theatre in Poland, led by the visionary Jerzy Grotowski, as well as the International School of Theatrical Anthropology in Germany, under the guidance of the innovative Eugenio Barba. He also graduated from the esteemed National University of Theatre and Film Arts, where he earned a degree in directing.

Endre's early career was marked by a series of successful directing stints at the National Theatres of Pecs and Szeged, as well as Television and Radio. However, his desire to explore new horizons led him to Paris and eventually New York, where he established himself as a versatile director, writer, and acting coach.

Throughout his career, Endre has worked with numerous conservatories, universities, and workshops across Europe, North America, and Asia, sharing his expertise with students and professionals alike. His impressive directing repertoire spans a wide range of genres, from classical plays to musicals, original and experimental projects to improvisation.

Endre's passion for storytelling has led him to work on a diverse array of projects, including plays by renowned authors such as Shakespeare, Moliere, Calderon, Goldoni, Chekhov, Stoppard, Brecht, Pinter, Orton, Ibsen, and Miller. His work has been showcased at prestigious venues like the Biennale de Paris, the Williamstown Theatre Festival, La Mama, and the Shakespeare World Congress.

In addition to his work in theatre, Endre has also ventured into the world of film, becoming a Producing Fellow at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. He has written and produced several shorts, and has acted in numerous Hollywood movies and television shows. Endre has also written and sold a dozen feature scripts, covering a range of genres from comedies to dramas, thrillers, historical adventures, documentaries, and biopics.

After years of honing his craft, Endre finally had the opportunity to write and direct his first feature film, Torn From the Flag, a full-length documentary that went on to win awards at numerous festivals and received an Oscar run. This was followed by The Maiden Danced, which was sold on every continent and invited to over 30 festivals worldwide, as well as Prima Primavera, which he co-wrote with director Janos Edelenyi.

Endre continues to be a sought-after actor, working with acclaimed directors like David Fincher and Ron Howard, and guest-starring in television series and New Media productions. Despite his many accomplishments, Endre remains committed to his craft, constantly seeking new challenges and opportunities to grow as an artist.
