Person Biography:
Enci was born and raised in Hungary, a country still under Communist rule at the time. When she was just 5 years old, her mother escaped to Germany, leaving Enci and her sister behind for 5 years. During this period, they lived with their father, grandparents, adopted teachers, and schoolmates, often alone in a small studio apartment.
After 5 long years, Enci and her sister finally emigrated to West Germany, where they were reunited with their mother at the age of 10 and a half. Adjusting to a new culture, language, and school system was not easy, but Enci persevered and even participated in various activities such as tennis, theater, handball, and arts programs.
As a teenager, Enci faced a challenging period, running away from home at the age of 16 and becoming homeless for about 2 weeks before being admitted into a foster home. She later became homeless again at the age of 18, this time for almost a year. During this difficult time, Enci enrolled in college, studying Psychology and eventually moving to Los Angeles at the age of 18.
In America, Enci had to learn English and took on various jobs, including cleaning houses, babysitting, dog sitting, and tending bar, all while working as a model and studying photography. She even taught herself website design to promote her acting and photography careers.
Enci's life took a new turn when she met her future husband, Stephen Box, in 2002. She discovered a passion for cycling and began riding her bike to auditions, photo shoots, and other jobs. This newfound passion led her to co-found illuminateLA and the Bike Writers Collective, organizations dedicated to promoting and advocating for cycling and alternative transportation in Los Angeles.
Throughout her career, Enci has served on various boards and committees, including the Board of Women In Theatre, the SAG Conservatory Committee, and the CalTrans 7 Bicycle Advisory Committee. She has also worked extensively in theater, appearing in productions such as "Taking Sides" and "Voices From Chornobyl."
When not on stage or in front of the camera, Enci can be found riding her bike on Critical Mass rides, with the Midnight Ridazz, or on her own organized rides around town.
