Emilio Insolera, a renowned deaf actor, has made a significant impact in the film industry with his multifaceted career, tireless advocacy work, and groundbreaking contributions to sign language. He has garnered widespread recognition for his impressive range of roles, including writing, producing, directing, and starring in the critically acclaimed Sign Gene: The First Deaf Superheroes in 2017.
In addition to his work on Sign Gene, Emilio has also made headlines for his role in the highly anticipated spy film The 355, produced by Universal Pictures and directed by Simon Kinberg. The film boasts an all-star cast, featuring Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Édgar Ramírez, and Sebastian Stan, alongside Emilio.
Moreover, Emilio has lent his voice to Disney's Limbo in 2022 and has worked as an ASL consultant for Robert Salerno's thriller film Here After, slated for release in 2024.
Emilio was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Italian deaf parents, Alfio Insolera and Maria Cristina Drovetta. He is the younger sibling of Humberto, his older brother. Growing up in a large deaf family and living in various countries, including Argentina, Italy, and the United States, Emilio is fluent in multiple languages, including Italian, Spanish, English, American Sign Language (ASL),Italian Sign Language (LIS),and Argentine Sign Language (LSA).
Later in his life, Emilio lived and worked in Japan, allowing him to acquire basic Japanese language skills and proficiency in Japanese Sign Language (JSL).
Emilio is in a romantic relationship with Norwegian fashion model Carola Insolera, and together, they have two beautiful deaf daughters, Ana Insolera and Liv Insolera.
