Ellora Patnaik, a talented individual, was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her passion for acting began to unfold at a tender age, with her first acting experience being the role of Joseph and Mary's donkey in a nativity play at a Toronto Nursery School when she was just three years old. As she grew up, her love for acting continued to flourish, with numerous school plays and community theatre performances under her belt.
In addition to her acting pursuits, Ellora's upbringing was deeply rooted in the world of dance. Her mother, the renowned Odissi Guru Chitralekha Patnaik, has had over a thousand performances to her credit, and Ellora has followed in her mother's footsteps, performing in India, Canada, the United States, and Europe. She is internationally recognized as one of the greatest Odissi dancers in the world.
Ellora's educational background is equally impressive, as she is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she was selected for the company in her final year. Some of her most notable roles include the troubled schizophrenic Catherine in John Olive's "Standing on my Knees", the hippie-child Catherine in "Say Goodnite Gracie", and the innocent but snake-charmed Rani in Girish Karnad's "Nagamandala", who has a fantastical love-affair with a King Cobra. Her performance in Mira Nair's "My Own Country" received widespread acclaim in the New York Times.
Aside from her passion for acting and dancing, Ellora enjoys a variety of activities, including dance, horse-backriding, swimming, bike-riding, roller-blading, and watching movies.
