Elliott Haimoff is a biologist, primatologist, and documentary filmmaker born in 1955 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He founded Global Science Productions in 1990 to develop and distribute educational television programs and news segments about space, biology, health, sports, and nature.
In the mid-1970s, Haimoff led a team of researchers on an expedition to record and remotely transmit real-time video of endangered primates, using early video recordings to analyze human and animal behavior. He received his Ph.D. in Biology from Cambridge University and conducted research at UCLA, focusing on preserving the gibbon ape and analyzing remote forested regions in China.
Haimoff has produced numerous science segments on various topics, including DNA fingerprinting, genome-sequencing computers, and space exploration. His company, Global Science Productions, has produced films about NASA, the Los Angeles Lakers, and pro sports, as well as programs about space exploration and female astronauts.
Haimoff's documentaries have been featured in various publications, including Variety magazine, Billboard Magazine, and TV Guide. His company's films have won several awards, including two Los Angeles Emmy Awards and the Best Nature and Animals Film in the Brentwood and Pacific Palisades International Film Festival.
